GGD Šenčur stun Podgorica in Round 5 opener

GGD Šenčur have scored their 2nd win in the season as they defeated Podgorica in the opening game of Round 5.

The Yellow squad have been in front throughout most of the match, while they entered the last quarter with a 16-point lead – 64:48. But, then GGD Šenčur almost dropped everything in the final 10 minutes as Podgorica came so close of completing a miraculous comeback in the 4^th quarter.

Podgorica managed to reduce the gap to just a single point – 69:68, with less than a minute left on the game clock, while on top of that the blue-and-white troops also had a ball-possession and a chance to take over the lead. However, one of their best players in today’s game Jalon Miller missed his 2-point shot and Podgorica had to make a quick foul to stop the clock.

With just 6 seconds remaining in the game, Dino Murić had two free throws for GGD Šenčur... But, he missed both of them! Luckicly for the yellow squad, Dalibor Đapa was there to pick up the key offensive rebound after which he got fouled.

Đapa made both free throws to increase the lead of GGD Šenčur to three points – 71:68, with just 4 seconds remaining.

Podgorica called for a time-out to prepare their final play in this match and to try to take this game into overtime. However, Jalon Miller’s 3-point attempt that came from a very difficult position only hit the rim and the score remained 71:68 for GGD Šenčur.

GGD Šenčur now have the overall score of 2-3, while Podgorica are at 3-2.
