The official 2021 ABA League 2 Playoffs press conference was held this Sunday in Podgorica ahead of the start of the quarter-finals.

ABA League Sports Director Milija Vojinović, representative of the city of Podgorica Secretariat for Culture and Sports Miloš Antić and BC Studentski centar General Manager Đuro Ostojić spoke about the upcoming Playoffs and gave their impressions about the 2020/21 ABA League 2 season.

Milija Vojinović, ABA League Sports Director: "Taking into concern the complex epidemiological situation, we have decided to modify the competition system in ABA League 2 and to change it from a double round-robin league system to a tournament system. Therefore, we now came to the final part of the season, which is the Playoffs that is going to be played in Podgorica. The 2021 ABA League Playoffs will include the top 8 teams from the regular season, while among them are the first placed team of the Montenegrin championship, the first placed team of the Serbian championship, as well as the first placed team of the Bosnia and Herzegovina championship. That just tell you how strong the 2020/2021 ABA League 2 regular season was. If I compare it to last season, when we had 21 games which we broadcast live on television, this season we broadcast a total number of 84 games of ABA League 2 and therefore increased the popularity of the competition significantly. I don't know if any league has increased its popularity in such a short period of time as the ABA League 2 has. We are seriously considering keeping this system of competition for the future, hopefully with the presence of fans on the stands.”

Miloš Antić, representative of the city of Podgorica Secretariat for Culture and Sports: “Considering the epidemiological situation, it was a complex task to organize everything in a proper way. Still, in cooperation with BC Studentski centar, I think that we did everything that ABA League 2 has required from us and I am sure all the teams will feel like at home here in Podgorica. It is up to us to provide them the best possible conditions and to ensure that they fully enjoy their stay in Podgorica.”

Đuro Ostojić, General Manager of Studentski centar: "I think that this year the ABA League 2 has made great progress. It has significantly increased its popularity among the fans in comparison to the last season, while the teams are also much stronger than before. I can say in front of Studentski centar that we are very pleased to be part of such a great competition as ABA League 2 is.”
