ABA 2 Thursday – Five games, two Playoffs battles

We have quite a busy schedule in ABA League 2 this Thursday evening.

Five games of Round 20 are scheduled for this day, including two big ones which may decide who will qualify for the 2019 ABA 2 Playoffs.

Let’s start with the big match in Sarajevo, where Spars (14-5) will host Sutjeska (11-8). The home team need just one more win to book a ticket for the 2019 ABA 2 Playoffs, while they also want to secure the 2^nd spot on the standings which brings the home court advantage in the semifinals. Spars currently have 1 win more than 3^rd placed MZT Skopje Aerodrom (13-6), which means that every game until the end of the regular season, including this one against Sutjeska, is quite important for them.

On the other side, Sutjeska are coming to Sarajevo with a clear goal to beat Spars, as every single win in the remaining part of the regular season would be so precious to them. Sutjeska are currently sharing the 4^th place on the standings with Dynamic VIP PAY, but the Belgrade side have a better head to head score. Therefore, the squad from Nikšić need to score (at least) 1 win more than Dynamic VIP PAY in the remaining 3 rounds in order to qualify for the 2019 ABA League Playoffs.  

The second big match in the race for the Playoffs will be played in Čačak, where Borac (10-9) are about to face Dynamic VIP PAY (11-8). As you can see, Dynamic currently have 1 win more than Borac, but in the 1^st part of the season the squad from Čačak triumhed in Belgrade by 98:89. Therefore, if Borac beat Dynamic VIP PAY on Thursday evening they will tie their season record with the Belgrade side and will have a better head to head score. At the same time, if Dynamic VIP PAY take the precious two points from this road game, they will make a major step toward the 2019 ABA 2 Playoffs.

One more match in this Round will have a big impact on the Playoffs race. MZT Skopje Aerodrom (13-6) host Rogaška (7-12) and the home team need to win this match in order to stay in the race for the 2^nd spot.

In the remaining two games of Round 20, Sixt Primorska (18-1) will host Vršac (1-18), while Helios Suns (6-13) will face Zrinjski (6-13).
